One of the best ways to draw people into a performance is to smile and make eye contact. This takes practice, because when we're concentrating on our moves, we tend to forget about our face! Plastering on a fake, toothy smile isn't the goal. It's not about being "fake"—it's about learning how to perform, how to take on the role you want everyone to see. It's not you; it's acting. Try sitting in front of a mirror and see if you can express these feelings: HAPPY, ANGRY, SAD, FLIRTY. This is why dancing can be so therapeutic and fun—you can be whoever you want to express what you like.
