Pro tip: Here are some fun facts about the origin of heels:

• Ancient origins: The first instances of high-heeled shoes date back to ancient Egypt, where both men and women wore them for ceremonial purposes or to stay clean from street dirt.
• Military practicality: In the 10th century, Persian cavalry used high-heeled boots to help them stay in their stirrups while riding.
• Symbol of status: This practical footwear was introduced to Europe and eventually adopted by aristocrats. Men in particular wore them to signify their wealth and high social standing, as they didn't have to do manual labor.
• Evolution into fashion: As heels became associated with masculinity and high society for men, they were eventually adopted and redesigned by women. French fashion, particularly in the 18th century under figures like Marie Antoinette, played a significant role in popularizing them as a women's fashion item.
• Modern developments: The modern stiletto heel was developed in the 1950s with the invention of a metal core, making heels both more stable and taller.
