It looks like an over extended Ooona split. If you watch any of Oona's video's you can see how she gets into her signature move.
the move is called Special K. The beginnings of it is the Oona Split. From attempting to practice it, you need a strong hummingbird and a good oona split. Oona Split vid-http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eqgo_Xk8kqg ;, Special K vid - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EvGJOeR_3so ;. Hope this helps.
Special K is also known as a butterfly......not sure where the double naming came in.
everyone has different names for everything. So i try to come up with generic terms. Will all it aerial oona split :D The vids do help. Im almost there with the help of those vids. Its just a fear thing of falling into it
hey guys-- oona recently clarified this for me, since i was confused as well. the "special K" is a name that people on a forum renamed oona's signature move (i dont know why...) which she believes that she created. SHE calls it the "flying k"-- it's done one-handed and is commonly done as a transition out of a star/hummingbird. a pic is here: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=336235850888&set=a.437269315888.199731.505050888&theater if you are doing it with two hands, it is a russian split or oona split: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=131110220888&set=a.437269315888.199731.505050888&theater i would agree with veng's distinction for and use aerial or grounded to differentiate where the lower foot is in the oona split.
hm the links are broken, but if you copy and paste the entire URL you should be able to see the pic... not sure if you need to be "friends" with oona.
bahahaha I will say that my special K looks NOTHING like that! *jealous*
sair, you mean your oona/russian split? 🙂
Anyone know if this trick is possible with heels on? Or can it only be done barefoot?
As far as I can see it is a barefoot only type move. In oder to get the extension needed you need to press the foot against the pole...no way you are doing that with heels on.
Barefoot only, for sure. Natasha Wang told me she puts grip aid on the bottom of her foot--that's the only thing that keeps her from face-planting, in her words. She also said she picks up a load of gross gunk stuck to the bottom of the foot! :-)
Whadda mean it can't be done in heels... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9z5efntE84 (1:32)
@shellypoles i think the 'only without shoes' was referring to the aerial version where you require skin grip from your foot to stop you slippering down or less delicately 'face planting'.
Shellypoles, that video was amazing! I can't believe the way she was flipping all over the place like that in heels--I'm proud of myself for just walking around in them and not falling on my face! Plus, it combined two of my favorite things--pole dance and Tomb Raider.
Yep, Chelle is superhuman and puts on an amazing, dynamic show everytime ;)
Chelle is an INSANE poler!...She's gonna make us a pic or video to show us how it's done IN HEELS-up the pole. Can't wait.
That video of Chelle was AMAZING! My favorite part was all the way from 1:00 to 1:20 and then of course again ten seconds later with that crazy split that looked superhuman. Does she have a gymnastics background? I ask one, because of her awesome strength and two because her body type and build reminds me very much of my younger sister who was in competitive gymnastics for ten years. The only critique anyone in their right mind could ever dare give is perhaps more eye-ward engagement with the audience but most understandably, it appears she was probably just focused on catching her breath! Can't wait to see the aerial split video, I have no doubt that it will appear to be superhuman. 😀
Chelle doing the Oona splits, aerial and in heels...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gK7yx-XXFt4&feature=channel_video_title
DANG! I can't even begin to tell you how to get in that pose! One thing I CAN say is I will NEVER be able to get into that pose, thats for sure! WOWZERS!
Wooop woop! Go CHELLE! :D Who says you can't do the Oona splits up the pole in giant heels? Heheheehe! She is crazy. (In an awesome way).
