I started Level 1 pole dancing classes on October 4th, 2011 at a studio here in Houston and I was addicted. I have completed Level 1 pole as of November 22nd, Level 2 as of January 24th, and Level 3 as of April 26th. I had been holding off on starting Level 4 because I felt I wasn't ready. On November 15, 2012 my studio unexpectedly (and stupidly) closed its doors without warning. It was very upsetting to many people. At the time the old studio closed, I hadn't touched my home pole since before Halloween. I was really discouraged in my pole journey at the time and the scholarship was the last straw. My home pole came down. I officially took my last class at the old studio and stopped poling on November 8, 2012, just before the studio closed. Luckily, two of the instructors opened up a new studio in the old studio's place right after the turn of the new year and I became a member there in late January 2013. My home pole is back up too. I'm taking a Pole Refresher course right now that is kicking my butt. I guess that's what I get for not taking lessons since last April! I'm also taking a stretching/splits class on Saturdays and the occasional drop-in class, particularly the ones with silks. Silks don't let you cheat! I'm slowly getting back into it. I had forgotten how much it hurts! I have a typical office job in real estate and live with my boyfriend, my two dogs, and his dog, all adopted from Houston shelters. My dogs are the lights of my life and I couldn't imagine being without them. They will probably make several appearances in any home videos I do. My boyfriend is also supportive of my poling and I'm so thankful to have someone like him. (My profile picture was taken after Level 3 graduation at the old studio.)
