I don't know what it is about the teddy but I can NOT get it!! I've taught many other people how to do it and they get it just fine. But I still can't! I'm so frustrated. Suggestions please!! Thanks so much!

A video of you trying would be helpful for us if you have one. If your taking the lessons here is the link https://www.studioveena.com/lessons/view/4d418b5f-164c-47a1-8758-18020ac37250 the POC's are: front of the Armpit, side of torso and low back. I find most people don't realize you have to have the pole far in towards the middle of the low back. The farther around you can bring the hips and waist in front of the pole, the easier the Teddy is to holdl Try aiming to reach the pole with your butt crack!! LOL 😀
That's totally it! I always tell people to aim for their butt crack when bringing their hips around the pole! 😀
This one took me MONTHS! What helped me was lifting my right hip higher than my left (I hold pole on my right side/back) and for some reason it made it a bit easier. I will also say that I could not hold this by standing on the ground, I finally climbed up on that pole and it was either hold it our fall. Amazing what the body can do when you give it those 2 options :o) Good luck xoxo
I also found it useful when doing it from the floor to get it to position (using right arm) and hold on to pole with left hand as well. Then let that help you take the weight as you lift your feet up - then when comfortable you can let go with that hand to be in the full teddy. When previously taught, we were told to just go straight into the teddy and I found it too much pressure on my arm straight away.
a video really helps! there's a ton of great advice here, the only thing i'll add is that you really need to push that inside shoulder forward and down into the pole-- you have to engage it, you can't just hang on the armpit and think you'll stay up. i've found that rounding your back slightly so that you keep skin contact on the pole with the lower torso helps some people as well!
I've gotten to the point where I can do this with bicep hold alone, no back skin (I get really sweaty so my back skin sometimes hurts more than helps, lol). In addition to the other comments, I'll add this: as you bring your grip arm into position, bring it around slightly high, then as you feel it against the pole, push it downward and engage that inner bicep muscle. If you do it right you'll actually feel the side of your body lift slightly... and at that point you're golden! Lift legs and off you go.
Thanks so much for all of the suggestions! I'm going to try it with these suggestions and if I still can't get it, I'll be posting a video soon! :)
So I tried it keeping all your suggestions in mind and.....I did it!!! I was so excited!! All of your suggestions helped so much! Thanks!
